Lesson Three  – Government and Community

Government can be a am important tool to solve problems, but free societies also place limit on what government can and can’t do.  

In this lesson, you can learn about the duties and limitations of government, and use the “5 Whys” method of analysis to look at the root causes of the problem you want to solve. Is government engagement the right tool for your project?

Objectives:

  • Describe the powers and limitations of government as enumerated in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution and its limitations as discussed in the Bill of Rights.
  • Explain the limitations of government-based solutions.
  • Analyze potential causes of your selected MIC problem using the “5 Whys” technique.
  • Describe the role of government or government organizations could play in solving your MIC problem.
