Margaret Piehl, one of the runner-up winners of our 2022 We the Students Essay Contest, hails from Centennial, Colorado. A rising senior, Margaret attends Platte River Academy, where she is on the track and cross-country team. Among her favorites are the Spanish and English classes that she has taken over the past three years.
As a future voter, the most important issues to Margaret are the economy, abortion, and immigration. The person from history she would most want to follow if he were alive today is J.R.R. Tolkien “because his content would be both fantastical and thought provoking.” Margaret’s greatest influence is her mom who inspired her love of reading and literature.
Looking forward, Margaret plans to study developmental psychology in college in hopes of one day working in a hospital or school, utilizing those skills.
