Cara Harris

Student

Cypress, Texas - Class of 2022

Cara Harris, part of a five-person team that earned honorable mention status in this year’s My Impact Challenge, is a graduating senior at Cypress Woods High School in Cypress, Texas. In high school she was a member of the National Honor Society and Special People Assisting Remarkable Kids (SPARKS).

A fan of history, Cara notes that if given the opportunity to follow anyone on social media, assuming they were alive today, she would follow Mary Eliza Mahoney. This is because Mahoney “was the first African American to study and work as a nurse in the United States, and she overcame adversity to do what she dreamed of.” This influence is reflected in Cara’s future plans as she intends to continue her education at Stephen F. Austin Stare University to get her nursing degree and then become a traveling nurse.

She was motivated to take part in her team’s project because it was an “opportunity to share her church’s services and positively impact the community.
