It’s About Time! BRI Jr. Game Demo and Instruction | Elementary Card Game

Welcome to our gameplay demo of "It's About Time!" – an engaging and educational elementary card game designed to accompany BRI Jr.’s elementary Course of the American Revolution Lesson.

In "It's About Time!", students use cards featuring historical events, people, and dates to create a timeline. This game encourages the use of historical knowledge, reasoning skills, and teamwork to place events in the correct order.

This educational game is based on Timeline by Frédéric Henry and is available wherever games are sold.

0:00 Hello teachers and students, today we are excited to introduce you to It’s About Time, a fun and educational game designed to help you learn about U.S. history by creating timelines together. This game is perfect for third to fifth graders, and is designed to accompany BRI Junior’s course of the American Revolution. Lesson in It’s About Time, students use cards

0:22 featuring historical events, people, and dates to create a timeline. The goal is to use historical knowledge, reasoning skills, and teamwork to place the events in the correct order. Setting up the game is quick and easy. First, download the PDF file and click print. Make sure to select the following options.

0:42 Print double sided and flip along long edge. For best results, Print the cards on cardstock to make them sturdier. Laminating the cards is also a great idea to ensure that they last longer and can be reused in your class. When you’re ready to begin the game,

1:03 each player gets 3 to 5 cards. Use the remaining cards to create a draw deck. Players should leave their cards face up on the table in front of them during the game. It is okay for others to see them to complete the set up. Take one card from the draw deck and place it face up in the middle of the play area.

1:26 You’ll know it’s face up when you see the date. The player whose birthday is next starts the game. The first player lays a card where they believe it belongs next to the existing card. Creating a timeline from left to right. The player then turns the card over to reveal the date.

1:48 If the card is correctly placed on the timeline, they leave it. If it’s in the wrong place, they move it to the correct spot on the timeline and draw a card. Then play passes to the next person. Each player takes turns placing a card, revealing the date.

2:08 Correcting the timeline if needed and drawing a card if necessary. The first player to place all their cards wins the game. If there’s a tie, the players who played their cards in the same round each draw one card
