Student
Coppell Middle School North - Coppell, Texas
Miraya Joshi’s love of books and writing began early, as evidenced by her first children’s book being published when she was just 9 years old.
Joshi, a student at Coppell Middle School North in Coppell, Texas, is continuing her journey into writing and enjoys reading historical fiction and dystopian genre books. In addition to reading and writing, Joshi enjoys participating in speech and debate, the Civics Bee at her school, as well as Indian classical dance, theatre, and cross-country running.
Not only does Joshi take pride in her skills as an author, but she also obtained a special achievement roll at her school, which “taught me time management and the value of hard work,” she said.
Joshi is a winner in the Bill of Rights Institute’s “Think The Vote” program and said she enjoyed “how it opens up my mind to topics I never thought of, and it lets me combine my creativity, writing skills, and debate skills all at one time.”
As a future voter, Joshi considers responsible use of artificial intelligence, practicing free speech responsibly, and improving the education system as the topics she cares about the most.
Joshi added that her mother is her hero and said she encouraged Joshi to work hard and do her best in every situation. Joshi’s future plans include volunteering to teach debate at her local debate academy, starting her own company, and participating in the National Honor Society.
In her spare time, Joshi enjoys playing piano and guitar, reading, sketching, swimming, and spending time with her friends.
