Ephraim Lawrence Blair

Student

Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School • Rockville, Maryland

As a self-proclaimed bibliophile, Ephraim Lawrence Blair finds it difficult to name one book as his favorite.

“I also admittedly read mostly nonfiction books and history, but I would say that The Great Gatsby is probably my favorite novel,” Blair said. “Because it has very important messages about the importance of morality and knowing that the eyes of the world are constantly on us, whether we like it or not.”

Blair, a student at Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Md., participated in the Bill of Rights Institute’s Think The Vote program about red flag laws and said he enjoyed learning more modern political topics “and connecting them back to the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the foundation of our republic.”

An active participant in extracurricular activities, Blair is a member of his school’s debate team and writes for his school newspaper. He also volunteers for various organizations and tutors and mentors disadvantaged children.

“I also write articles about military history and life for the USPTO Military Association. I have played and composed music for the piano since I was four and have even performed at Carnegie Hall. On my own, I am currently writing a biography about President William Henry Harrison,” Blair said.

Blair plans to study history in college and attend graduate school, and is particularly passionate about preserving the nation’s constitutional system, economics, and national security.

“I am very proud of myself for growing and maturing to come to understand the world around me,” he said.
