Print & Graphic Communications Association Donates Historic Artwork to BRI

Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln have a new home at the Bill of Rights Institute – thanks to the generosity of a New York state-based organization.

The Print & Graphic Communications Association (https://printcommunications.org/), which represents the printing and graphics industry for New York state, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, recently donated a more than 100-year-old bust of Franklin and a 125-year-old piece of stone lithography artwork depicting Lincoln to BRI’s headquarters.

The donations from the Amherst, N.Y.-based organization commemorate its support of BRI’s “Power of the Printed Word” campaign, which prints and distributes pocket-size copies of the U.S. Constitution and other Founding documents to classrooms nationwide.

The association’s board members also made a generous financial donation to BRI to complement its artwork donation and to support the Power of the Printed Word campaign.

“We are thrilled and honored to receive these works of art, and know that the educators, students, and others who visit our offices will deeply appreciate the opportunity to view them,” said Anthony Simone, BRI’s Vice President of Development. “We appreciate the generosity of the Print & Graphic Communications Association, and the association’s commitment to helping us advance civic and history education and inform students about our nation’s Founding principles.”
