Pennsylvania State Standards Tool Available to Teachers
A new resource is available for Pennsylvania teachers from the Bill of Rights Institute to help them meet their state standards.
As part of BRI’s aligned state standards tool, Pennsylvania has its own state-specific tool that features curricula recommended by BRI to meet the state’s civics and history education standards. The tool allows teachers to filter the state’s standards by grade, subject, and the type of resource they want to use.
Pennsylvania teachers can filter for grades 9-12 and for the subjects of U.S. History and civics and government. They can also filter through the state’s standards, which include analyzing political leadership and public service in a republican form of government, explaining how citizens participate in choosing their leaders through political parties, campaigns and elections, and evaluating the major arguments advanced for the necessity of government.
The tool also links to recommended BRI resources under each standard for teachers, including activities, essays, podcasts, and videos from BRI curricula like Being an American, Documents of Freedom, and Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness (BRI’s comprehensive U.S. History digital textbook).
