Meet Your BRI Team: Development

You already know that the Bill of Rights Institute supports educators year-round.

From the free resources available on our website, to our professional development workshops for teachers, to our team members attending social studies conferences nationwide, the Institute exemplifies our belief in equipping teachers and students to live the ideals of a free and just society.

But accomplishing that belief is an overall team effort, and one group that plays a significant role is BRI’s Development team. Through building philanthropic partnerships that contribute to BRI’s overall mission, the Development team identifies, cultivates, and finalizes new opportunities and relationships with supporters who generously help fund the Institute’s work and expand our impact in the civics education field.

These partnerships enable the Development team to secure resources that help BRI grow our programs, such as MyImpact Challenge and Student Fellowship. It also assists the Institute in developing our free teacher content, ensuring teachers have the tools they need in their classrooms.

The Development team works with a diverse network of philanthropic partners who support civic education. They include private and family foundations, individual philanthropists and philanthropic advisors, corporate partners, and local business leaders across the country.

The team’s pivotal mission includes securing support for BRI’s general mission by building long-term partnerships and expanding diverse revenue streams. They also meet with potential partners, attend community events nationwide, engage with local business and civic leaders, research new opportunities, collaborate with their BRI colleagues on proposals, and foster relationships that also support the Institute’s mission.

BRI reached a new milestone in 2025 by generating approximately $15.8 million in total revenue, which was an all-time high and a 62 percent increase year-over-year. This growth reflects the strength of BRI’s mission and philanthropic partnerships that fuel it. The Development team plays a pivotal role in building the relationships that make this growth possible.

As the Institute looks ahead to 2026, we are well-positioned to build on this momentum and continue expanding our reach and impact nationwide.

“The Development team at BRI is essential to our organization’s mission,” said Anthony Simone, BRI’s Vice President of Development. “They work tirelessly and proactively to help grow not only our resources, but our overall mission to give teachers and students the tools to become civic-minded citizens.”
