Join The Dialogue With BRI For Constitution Day Live!

Constitution Day is on Tuesday, Sept. 17 — and the Bill of Rights Institute is featuring a star-studded lineup for its annual Constitution Day Live! educational programming.

This year’s theme is “We’re Built for This: Debate, Dialogue, and the Constitution.” BRI staff will explore how our Constitutional system helps us navigate the disagreements that naturally emerge in a free society.

The program will feature a conversation between BRI President and CEO David Bobb and Condoleezza Rice, the former U.S. Secretary of State and now the director of the Hoover Institute at Stanford University. They will discuss the importance of leadership and America’s institutions.

Jane Kamensky, president and CEO of Monticello, the estate of Founder Thomas Jefferson, will discuss what Americans can learn about studying historical figures. Specifically, the relationship between Jefferson and his fellow Founder, John Adams, and the importance of civic friendship.

BRI will also interview Eric Meyer, editor and publisher of the Marion County Record newspaper in Kansas, about the importance of free speech and a free press. Last year, the local police department raided his newspaper, which was widely condemned as an attack on the freedom of the press and led to charges being filed against the former chief of police.

BRI’s Bobb penned an op-ed for the Marion County Record expressing concern about the raid and attacks on press freedoms.

Constitution Day Live! will also feature an interview between BRI Senior Teaching Fellow Tony Williams and author and scholar Yuval Levin about his new book “American Covenant,” which discusses our current constitutional system.

Mark Rozell, a political scientist from George Mason University, will answer questions posed by members of BRI’s 2024 Student Fellowship program.

Viewers will also learn about BRI’s new curriculum for students in grades 3-5, BRI Jr., and BRI will introduce Shari Conditt, a teacher from Woodland High School in Woodland, Wash., who was just named BRI’s National Civics Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year.
