BRI Roars Into March With Learning Opportunities

by Bill of Rights Institute on

Bill of Rights Institute staff hit the ground running this month as they embark on the busy spring conference season.

But first, BRI finished the month of February strong by presenting at a conference for the Missouri Council for the Social Studies. The conference included an overview of BRI Jr., BRI’s resource for elementary school teachers, and “Getting Nast-y,” a workshop dedicated to political cartoons. BRI also hosted a trivia night for teachers who attended the conference, who said they found the two-day conference “excellent” and “wonderful.”

“Really loving the things you’re making for elementary [teachers],” said a teacher who attended the conference.

BRI also held an exhibit at a charter school conference in Denver, Colo., and hosted a workshop on BRI Jr. at the Colorado Council for the Social Studies conference earlier this week. The Institute also presented at the start of this month at the Middle State Council for Social Studies conference in Pennsylvania.

In addition to BRI Jr. and “Getting Nast-y,” attendees also learned about our new resource, Government and Politics: Civics for the American Experiment, and how to manage multiple viewpoints among students.

“This session provided new and, I think, better strategies for something I was already teaching,” said one teacher who visited with BRI at the conference.

Another teacher said they felt engaged during BRI’s presentation and looked forward to visiting BRI’s website to learn more about our various resources.

“[It was a] great integration of material in a very timely moment in history,” said another teacher.

BRI will also hold sessions at the Northern Nevada Council for the Social Studies conference on March 7 and at the upcoming California Council for the Social Studies conference in San Francisco.
