The calendar just turned to fall, which means the Bill of Rights Institute offers many professional development opportunities to educators through in-person workshops and appearances at social studies conferences nationwide.

This month, BRI offers professional development sessions in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. The sessions cover topics such as civil discourse and elections, exploring government foundations and pedagogical strategies, and a special BRI “civics summit.”

BRI’s professional development sessions highlight the organization’s resources that cover topics including the Gilded Age and the Executive Branch. Future sessions will also focus on BRI’s Plainest Demands of Justice, Slavery and the Founding, and Supreme Court Document-Based Questions (DBQs) curricula.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, BRI will partner with the Dallas Holocaust Museum for a day-long program called “The Foundations of American Government.”

BRI will also host a “Civics in the 21st Century” summit at the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum in Bismarck on Monday, Oct. 21, and Tuesday, Oct. 22. Our staff will also attend social studies conferences this month and next in Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

In December, BRI will wrap up 2024 by attending the National Council for the Social Studies conference in Boston.
