BRI Continues Spreading The Message Of Civics Education

by Bill of Rights Institute on

Staff members at the Bill of Rights Institute are on the road year-round to provide professional development to educators, whether through in-person workshops or presentations at social studies conferences nationwide.

Earlier this week, BRI staff held five events in four states in one day and offered professional development sessions and conference presentations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. They provided a comprehensive overview of BRI’s resources – including the Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness and Supreme Court Document-Based Questions (DBQs) curricula – and provided guidance to educators at the Ohio Council for the Social Studies conference on managing viewpoint diversity among students.

As part of sharing BRI’s Supreme Court DBQs resource with teachers in Virginia, BRI also discussed the importance of civics and history education in teaching students about elections and used the Court cases U.S. v. Nixon and Bush v. Gore as examples.

BRI also recently held professional development sessions for teachers in Connecticut and Missouri, as well as a state standards alignment workshop in North Carolina and a civil discourse summit in New Mexico.

Visit our Events page on the BRI website for more information on upcoming sessions and workshops.
