BRI Alignment Tool Available To North Carolina Teachers

by Bill of Rights Institute on

A new state-specific resource is now available to North Carolina teachers as part of the Bill of Rights Institute's new aligned state standards tool.

Their state-specific standards alignment tool features curricula recommended by BRI to meet North Carolina’s civics and history education standards. The tool allows teachers to filter the state’s standards by grade, subject, and the type of resource they want to use.

North Carolina teachers can filter for grades 9-12 and for the subjects of American history and civic literacy. They can also filter through the state’s standards, which include critiquing multiple perspectives of American identity in terms of American exceptionalism, explaining how economic, social, and political interests influenced the direction of American foreign policy, and differentiating citizenship and civic participation in terms of responsibilities, duties, and privileges of citizens.

The tool also links to recommended BRI resources under each standard for teachers, including activities, essays, podcasts, and videos from BRI curricula like Presidents and the Constitution, Slavery and the Founding, and Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness (BRI’s comprehensive U.S. History digital textbook).
