Apply For BRI’s MyImpact Challenge Microgrants

If you teach in Missouri, Utah, or the Pittsburgh, Pa. area, you have an opportunity to support students as they apply civics education to real community issues. The Bill of Rights Institute’s MyImpact Challenge State Fair microgrant program is designed to help educators create local, student-centered civics fairs that highlight civic engagement and problem-solving.

The microgrant supports events modeled after science fairs, where students present civic or community service projects they developed as part of MyImpact Challenge, BRI’s nationwide civic engagement contest for students ages 13–19. The microgrants allow educators to host local civics fairs — science fair-style events where students showcase their community service and civic projects as part of MyImpact Challenge.

Educators selected for the program receive $8,000 to help cover event-related costs, including stipends, student prizes, and materials needed to run the fair. In addition to funding, the grant includes a toolkit, a teacher guide, and virtual support from BRI staff to assist with planning and implementation. The grant funds must be used within six months and are limited to expenses directly related to hosting a MyImpact Challenge civics fair.

The deadline to apply for a microgrant is Wednesday, Dec. 31. More details about eligibility, requirements, and the application process are available on the MyImpact Challenge Civics Fair microgrant program page on the BRI website.
