Cornell Notes is a structured system for taking and reviewing notes, designed to help students actively process and retain information. This type of Cornell Notes has 3 sections:

  1. Note-taking column (left side) – This is the largest section where you write down main ideas, details, facts, and concepts. Bullet points work well for this column.
  2. Questions and Connections column (right side) – You fill in this smaller column with questions, thoughts, or connections that arise as you investigate the timeline event.
  3. Summary section (bottom) – At the bottom of the section, you write a brief summary of the main points in your own words. This reinforces your understanding and memory.
