What is the MyImpact Challenge?

MyImpact Challenge is a civic engagement contest hosted by the Bill of Rights Institute, where teens across the nation will compete to win up to $10,000!

How to enter:

  1. Write a 1,200-word essay on the ideal of “E Pluribus Unum” and how your project furthers that ideal in your community. Include at least one Civic Virtue and one of Founding Principle as defined in the Bill of Rights Institute's “Principles and Virtues.”
  2. Create a report of up to 2,000 words detailing your completed or in-progress civic engagement projects. Include:
    a. Your inspiration for the project.
    b. A project plan.
    c. At least two examples of the project’s impact on the community.
    d. How your understanding of the role of Civic Virtue, knowledge of your community, and your ability to support or impact your community grew because of the project!
  3. Submit a picture or video of your project and its results in one of the following formats:
    a. Photographic Only: No fewer than ten and no more than twenty high-resolution still photographs, submitted in either JPEG or PNG format.
    b. Video Only: One video of no more than five minutes, submitted in MP4 format.
    c. Mixed Photographic and Video: No fewer than five and no more than seven high-resolution still photographs as well as one video of no more than two minutes. Photographs must be in either JPEG or PNG format, and video must be in MP4 format.

Submission is open to students between the ages of 13 and 19 years old. The contest closes on 11:59 pm PT on Sunday, May 1, 2022!

Projects must be submitted through our submission portal. Students can compile their portfolio, save their progress, and submit their project for a chance to win prize money. Students should consult the submission guidelines and rubric before submission. Applications must be received by May 16, 2022 to be eligible for prize money.
