KANSAS ESSAY CONTEST
The Bill of Rights Institute held an essay contest between October 6 and October 25, 2015. We were thrilled to have received a tremendous amount of submissions! Students were given a prompt on free speech on high school campuses and allowed 500-800 words to respond. The prompt was:
“Do students have a right to privacy and free speech on a high school campus? Whose role is it to regulate student speech and to what extent should it be regulated? What consequences exist for student privacy if speech is actively monitored?”
Thank you to all who participated! We were thrilled to have received so many high quality essays.
All entrants are invited to attend the Kansas Public Lecture featuring FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai in Wichita, Kansas on November 12, 2015 and attend the private student reception prior to his speech. The reception will commence at 5:30pm at the Wichita Hyatt Regency, and the event will begin at 6:15pm. Students can both find additional details and register here.
