The Bill of Rights Institute is hosting a free one-day workshop entitled Documents of Freedom: Liberty and Equality.
At this free one-day seminar, you will discover resources to help engage your students with primary sources including the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, additional amendments, Supreme Court cases, treaties, and legislation. They will also engage with secondary sources that will give them background on the groups such as Native Americans, African Americans, and women who fought for liberty and equality throughout American history.
We will provide you with easy-to-implement resources to bring these concepts alive as well as provide new methods to teach these topics to your students as we explore our online textbook, Documents of Freedom.
This workshop is best suited for high school U.S. History and Government teachers.

Program Location: NYC Seminar & Conference Center | 71 W 23rd St #515, New York, NY 10010. Click here for directions. Participants will be responsible for their own transportation and parking charges. The venue is located off of the Yellow and Green Subway lines.
The workshop begins at 8:00 A.M. with registration and breakfast, and concludes at 3:00 P.M.
Teachers should dress in business casual for the day.
- Use student-friendly activities to analyze primary sources including the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and Supreme Court cases.
- Participate in engaging lessons that will help your students analyze the events and people involved in the fight for liberty and equality.
- Participate in lectures and discussions with a scholar to improve your own understanding and bring knowledge back to your classroom.
- Be awarded a Professional Development certificate for 6 seat hours.
