Internships

The Institute is always looking for talented individuals that have a passion for educating young people about the Constitution to join our team. We have unpaid internship opportunities available throughout the year. Social Media / Events Coordinator Intern Role

The Bill of Rights Institute works directly with students to help educate and excite them about the ideas behind the Founding of America, such as limited government and individual rights. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, detail-oriented addition to the team who can help engage students via social media and help to coordinate our summer teacher and student events. The Social Media / Events Coordinator Intern will provide critical assistance to the Institute by helping us plan and execute our summer programs, track and analyze information about program participants, manage and run our social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) with the goal of growing our audience and building more meaningful engagement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Grow social media presence and engagement (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Create content for our student social media
  • Prepare materials for summer programs
  • Assist in managing and executing logistics for student and teacher summer programs
  • Other duties as determined by candidate’s skills, knowledge, and interests.  Unique opportunities for entrepreneurial talent.

Requirements include:

  • Demonstrated ability in the systematic analysis and solution of problems
  • Entrepreneurial; demonstrated initiative and ability in defining/undertaking work assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple and diverse tasks under deadline pressure
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of Institute management and staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, and with technology in general; ability to master Institute software applications
  • High attention to detail

Preferred skills include:

  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems, especially SalesForce
  • Experience preparing content for social media platforms
  • Experience with event execution

 

Research and Development Intern Role

The Bill of Rights Institute works with teachers and students to help educate and excite them about the ideas behind the Founding of America, such as limited government and individual rights. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, detail-oriented addition to the team who can help further the impact of our development team. The Research and Development Intern will provide critical assistance to the Institute by investigating new constituencies for the Institute to approach, analyze market sectors such as private and charter schools, and complete development team processes including data entry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Investigating the current and future trends within the home-school sector
  • Research educational markets including private and charter schools
  • Write reports on prospective and current donors
  • Research prospective foundation and corporate supporters
  • Enter gifts received into the Institute’s database
  • Compile tax receipts and other donor communication
  • Additional research and auxiliary support as necessary
  • Other duties as determined by candidates skills, knowledge, and interests

Design Intern

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, motivated addition to our team who can help manage a variety of tasks including web design and web copy while being able to work independently with limited oversight.

Responsibilities: Assist in the development of new mission-focused instructional materials for printed and online resources.

  • Research constitutional topics for curriculum development projects.
  • Create graphics and design elements for use in online resources.
  • Create/Edit video for use in Bill of Rights Institute Projects
  • Create and compile materials for websites and databases.
  • Develop resources related to Constitution-focused current events.
  • Use social media outlets to help promote new content.

Requirements include:

  • interest in design, websites, and Founding Principles;
  • entrepreneurial, demonstrated initiative, and ability to undertake assignments with minimal supervision;
  • ability to handle multiple tasks under deadline pressure;
  • ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of Institute management and staff;
  • has strong knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, design experience, introductory knowledge of website maintenance, and the ability to become proficient with Institute software applications.

Preferred skills include:

  • experience with website editing, cloud-based databases, and HTML/CSS.
  • strong writing and editing skills.
